I have always wanted to "grow up" as an artist to paint works with great integrity and love of the subjects as he did. You can tell that he loves what he does for a living . He made a very good living and was at the top of his industry.
There is great poetry to his work, such as the hint of blue sky in the backgrounds of his paintings, it is a small peeking through. He used live models so I suspect this was a 'quiet' pose for the little guy. He was one of the best loved painters of all time, and was not in our history of art books for 125 years. Bouguereau's work was not liked by the critics but the public is still a very good judge of fine work, so a the revival of his work so long after his death is a joy. The Art Renewal.org has much fabulous information on William Adolph.

The music choice and poetry choices also have a cadence that the painting shares.
Mary Jane Q CrossMary Janehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00018162575154822733noreply@blogger.com
